Paracord Survival Bracelet

Tools
Scissors
Lighter
Yard Stick

Materials
550 Paracord
5/8 inch Contoured Side Release Buckle

Instructions
Measure your wrist by wrapping the paracord around your wrist.  Where the cord crosses, this is your wrist size.

Hold at the point where your cord crosses and measure with the yard stick.

For every wrist size inch, you will need a foot of paracord.  My wrist measured 7 inches, so I will need 7 feet of paracord.  Measure and cut your paracord.

Burn the cut ends of the paracord with a lighter to keep the cord from unraveling.

Fold the paracord in half to find the center.

Take the center of the paracord and pull it through one end of your buckle.

Take the loose paracord ends and thread through the paracord loop in buckle.

Pull the paracord ends tight.

Thread the loose ends through the second piece of the buckle.  Make sure that when your buckle fastens, the buckle pieces are curved in the same direction.

Slide the buckle up the paracord towards the other buckle piece.

Measure the paracord buckle end to the buckle end.  This should be your wrist measurement plus 1 1/4 inches.  My wrist measured 7 inches, so I need 8 1/4 inches.

Turn the cord so the second buckle is away from you.

The knot used to make this bracelet is called the Cobra Knot or Solomon Bar.  For a tutorial on how to tie a Cobra Knot (Solomon Bar) go Here.

Fold the left piece of paracord behind the center pieces of cord and over the right piece of paracord.

Cross the right piece of paracord over the center pieces of cord and through the left loop of paracord.

Tighten the paracord so the knot is up next to the buckle.

To tie the next knot, fold the right piece of paracord behind the center pieces of cord and over the left piece of paracord.  To keep your bracelet from twisting, make sure the cord that originally goes across the back stays across the back.

Cross the left piece of paracord over the center pieces of cord and through the right loop of paracord.

Tighten the paracord so the knot is up next to the buckle.

Continue knotting until you reach other buckle end.

Thread the extra cord through a knot on the back of the bracelet.

Trim the extra cord off close to the knot.

Melt the ends of the cord with the lighter and tuck under the knot.  Be careful, the ends of the paracord are very hot.  A soldering iron or wood burning tool might be helpful in melting the ends.

Your bracelet is ready to wear.
